Messina
The capital of Messina is Silstan. Messina exports wood to all of Torineya. Many lumberjack villages send wood to Silstan, where it is sorted, processed, and distributed.
For quite a long time, the lands of Messina were almost inhabited. Elven communities were born deep in the forests of Messina, and they lived remote from human civilization.
The mountains marking the eastern border of Messina are the natural habitat of dwarfs and of at least one tabaxi tribe. This border separates Messina from Stoneheaven , a mountainous land mostly inhabited by dwarves and gnomes.
The human expansion to Messina started in the 244th year of the Great Chronicle when the need for wood grew stronger and stronger. Humans from the southern lands named Taland first discovered that local wood is much stronger and better fit for building, and then understood that for some reason the reforestation of Messina takes much less time comparing to their homeland. By the 302nd, the wood production of Messina became a profitable and important trading asset and the local managers decided to move to the independence of Messina.
The Independence of Messina
Messina announced its independence in the 307th, and it was an outcome of the Messina Independence War. Local humans enlisted the support of elven communities in Messina in exchange for keeping eastern forests for the elves entirely. As the result, the western part of Messina is mostly inhabited by humans and other beings willing to live and work here, while the western part still consists of virgin forest and wood elves communities.
