Crystal Skull of the Great Priest
The Skull of the Great Priest is not an actual human skull, but a supposedly religious artifact of an ancient era. It seems that this glowing crystal skull is enchanted with magic similar to 'continuous flame', and the exact ritualistic purpose of such things is not yet discovered.
The historical artifact was found during The Valley Lily Defense by the group of young adventures. The magical spell on the artifact was in place to pass the message "The Great Priest, the Witness of the Great Light, found his rest here", which is the reason for the item's name. The adventurers brought it to Valley Lily and then to Silstan, the capital of Messina, where it is now kept by clerics of Valyrian the Dedicated in the walls of Silstan University.
It is believed that such artifacts were used by people of the past to pass important messages to the upcoming civilizations. This particular skull, however, was supposedly intended to merely mark the final rest of a powerful priest of a forgotten religion. Interestingly enough, parallels could be drawn between the 'Great Light' mentioned by a skull and the modern belief that a 'Rising Star' gave impetus to the development of modern civilization after being found by the first magic bearers 901 years before the The Valley Lily Defense. It is however the first known appearance of the 'Great Light' in modern mythology, so scientists and clerics believe that the Crystal Skull is a remnant of the way more ancient religions. There are more answers than questions in connection to these times...
