Thorn

This elven thin-blade (rapier) is designed to be concealed within a walking cane. The weapon was forged by fey, as a gift for a firbolg, and was designed to defend against giants. The weapon has since been removed from its cane-scabbard, and the hilt was removed. This was likely done because the weapon was no-longer in possession of its original owner, and few other species have the appropriate height and anatomy to use a walking cane adjusted for the use of a firbolg, who are known to be very long-legged. Thorn's special ability, limited to melee combat, is that the weapon seems to guide the user's hand when struck by creatures with greater reach than the wielder. At any time, when the user is not surprised or incapacitated, when the user is threatened by a creature with greater reach than the user, the user's reach becomes the same as the threatning creature, but only if the user attacks the threatening creature, and any time the user is struck by a creature that has greater reach than the user, the user can spend a reaction to make an attack of opportunity against that creature. The weapon is a +1 weapon that deals +1d4 damage to giants.
