The Order of the Gauntlet is a multifaceted organization that originated in Cormyr and operates like a Chivalric Order, permitting High Born people from all areas of Faerun to join if they are deemed worthy (typically through martial or material contributions to the causes of the Gauntlet).
The Order started as an effort to spread Chivalric ideals as well as rally warriors from many nations to rise up and unite to fight against monsters and the undead - as such, the Order can best be described as a secret society that sponsors a Crusader Army.
Typical Members
Military Officers, career soldiers, militant aristocrats, high-ranking aristocrats and various individuals who occupy themselves with attempting to make the realms saver.
Preferred Government Type
The Gauntlet shies away from Imperialism but heavily prefers Feudal Monarchies to anything else, though similarly to the Harpers, the Gauntlet believes that lack of self-reliance is the detriment of any society, but unlike the Harpers they place no real importance upon the independence of individual rulers, but agrees that there should be a clear division between the Aristocracy and the Peasantry.
Causes
The Gauntlet genuinely believes that only strong nations can deal with the menaces that exist in the world of Faerun - Minor Lords cannot be squabbling with each-other over graze-lands while goblins raid the very towns that the buy the meat.
At the same time, an Empire that tries to micromanage too many regions is the governmental equivalent of a compromise - in no-one's best interest.
One of their primary causes is their enduring attempt to get some of the Northern Realms to actually absorb each other and become Kingdoms.
