Session 1.75: At the South Gate Report

General Summary

SOUTH GATE, NEVERWINTER

After being visited by Klaus Frostmantle and his partner Crispin, the party has remained at the gate pondering what to do next.

Lysander Nenuial, who was not permitted to ride in the wagon by the other members since they do not fully know him, casually stands idle but then a couple of the many Neverwinter Guard standing at the gate approaches.

The guards express some frustration that Lysander and the wagon are just sitting at the gate. It is a bit suspicious so he asks that they either leave or go park in the designated space just west of the gate. The cost is 5GP/day to park.

Finding out that the wagon is not actually Lysander's, in frustration he pounds on the wagon door.

The guard, clearly frustrated, expresses some concern about "news" that has come in but isn't willing to share with Lysander what he is talking about.

As the chat continues, the guard is clearly nervous that the "mood is turning dark" in the city and encourages Lysander to use his music to help bring encouragement.

From inside the wagon, the party hears the firm knocking from the guard and Dakari Akinjide opens the door to see what is going on

Nyx Ningel also arrives at the wagon door and Lysander explains that they need to move the wagon. donaar ironhide and Miramenor Starsinger continue to rest.

As Dakari had mentioned Mystra in his frustration with all the commotion, the guard poorly decides to insult his worship of her as she is dead.

With much eloquence, Dakari explains that Mystra doesn't have to be alive to be an important influence. Sadly, the guard has no care for the workings of the gods or those who worship them.

Lysander expresses interest to go to the Driftwood Tavern and the guard provides some basic directions.

The party winds up deciding to keep the wagon in the parking area for seven days for a total of 35GP.

Two other guards then walk up wondering if the two need any help. No help is needed but one guard expresses some distrust of magic users so to remain watchful.

Lysander mentions that the wagon is actually Sildar Hallwinter's and one guard does remember someone by that name coming in earlier with a prisoner. It is confirmed that Sildar is a member of the Lord's Alliance so they let him in to head to the barracks.

Dakari explains they were actually intending to arrive with Sildar but ran into Lysander. The guard jokes about bards having talk that is sweeter than honey.
