Nazim gash'ed

Nazim Gash’ed, known as Nagash, was once a close friend of Vairae Vecna and a battle mage in the elven kingdom’s garrison. When Vecna uncovered an ancient tome and pursued lichdom, Nagash eagerly supported him, only to be betrayed and sacrificed in the ritual that transformed Vecna. Raised as an undead servant, Nagash remained a loyal follower, though he was eventually replaced as Vecna’s advisor by Kas.   After Kas’s betrayal and Vecna’s downfall, Nagash took control of Entropis and Vecna's Domain of Dread, cursed into a monstrous Nagpa form by his enemies. In 1076 BD, a failed ritual by Vecna’s cultists caused the city of Thar Amphala to teleport to the Ice-peak Concord, while Vecna's tower, Entropis, remained in the Shadowfell. Though the ritual did not fully return Vecna to the material plane, he regained control over his domain of dread, with Nagash acting as his representative and ruling from the city of Rivalis.

History

Early life

Nazim Gash'ed, most often called Nagash, was one of Vairae Vecna's friends back in school, one of the rare kids sharing this grim passion for bullying. As an adult, Nagash followed the elven kingdom of Lórien garrison as a battle mage alongside Vecna.   When Vecna found an ancient tome and became more powerful, Nagash was the first one to support him. Nagash was offered great power, corrupting him with dark and necrotic energy in the process, but Nagash trusted his friend and ally.   In 1574 BD, the powerful archmage Vecna achieved lichdom, After many years spent deciphering the ancient tome, Vairae succumbed to the irresistible pull to complete this ritual... and sacrificed Nagash, entombing them alive. Nagash was soon raised from the dead, serving his friend again in death, and maintained a position of power as an undead under Vecna's command, although the general Kas took over his previous role as Vecna's trusted advisor during the campaign against the elven kingdom.   Later, when Kas betrayed Vecna, and Vecna was defeated and cast out, it was Nagash who took over Entropis and Vecna's domain of dread. Cursed to turn into a horrific monster, a Nagpa, by the allied forces who did not defeat him, he maintained his position, diligently waiting for Vecna's return.

Echoes of the past

1076 BD   In 1076 BD, the cult of Vecna grew in strength and followers sought ways to bring back the god of dark secrets to the material plane. Corrupting temples of Selune, and channeling dark Magic to Entropis, the followers performed a ritual atop the tower in an attempt to summon Vecna.   However, the ritual went awry, resulting in a burst of necromantic energy that killed most of the cultists present. Instead of bringing Vecna back, the ritual teleported the city of Thar Amphala to the north of the Ice-peak Concord.   The tower, Entropis, was brought down during the relocation as it stayed in the shadowfel, within Vecna's domain of dread, but miraculously remained aloft, magically levitating despite lacking a foundation. The failed ritual left the cultists shocked and in awe of the unpredictable and dangerous power they sought to harness.   Although the Ritual failed, Vecna was able to manifest himself, at least partially, in his domain of dread, ruling over it again, waiting for his cultist to bring him forth in the material plane. Nagash serving as his representative, leaving Vecna in his tower as he maintained the domain from the city of Rivalis.
