Med'an Character in Toriel | World Anvil

Med'an

Med'an is a human with orcish heritage, son of the human Medivh and the half-orc Garona Halforcen. His unusual parentage and training has given him the unique ability to interweave divine magic with the arcane.

History

Med'an was conceived during a tryst between the half-orc assassin Garona Halforcen and the Archmage Medivh while she resided in the mage's home as a spy for the warlock Gul'dan. Garona fearing that she may be compelled to kill those closest to her, left after her son birth.   Medivh raised Med'an in the war-torn region, abandonning his position as a court wizard or as the leader of the hesian order while Garona secretly watched over him from afar. Medivh taught Med'an armed combat and, as the youth grew closer to adulthood, helped guide him in his mastery of arcane magic.   It is only years later, that Med'an found his mother. Garona revealed to Med'an that he was part-orc. Unwilling to put her son at risk while she still remained subject to the shadow council magic, she asked Med'an to stay behind until Medivh could liberate her mind from the Shadow Council grasp, a task that he was successful in completing.   Med'an began training to use clerical power, now worshipping Pelor. Showing a natural affinity for the divine magic and quickly grasping the basics. It is only later that his arcane magic, power inherited from his father Medivh, showed up. Med'an intuitively wove together arcane and divine magic to defeat his foes. Unaware that he was doing anything special, he remarked simply that he had only done what others had taught him, and that he still had much to learn.
