Games and recreation

The people of Thedas enjoy many leisure activities. Even in the face of great difficulty, people of all ages and backgrounds find pleasurable ways to pass the time.  

Games

People of Toriel are partial to games, and it is common that these games involve gambling.  
  • Blackjack - A card game, players draw card to get as close to a score of 21 as possible.[/li
  • Gambit of Ord - A card game, players draw cards and make successive bets for three rounds.
  • Quon A Drensa -"Run of Luck" in common, a game where players bet on lizards in a race.
  • Avandra's Favor - A dice game, players roll dice whose total must be either 7 or 12 to win.
  • Crown And Anchor - Crown and Anchor is a simple dice game, traditionally played for gambling purposes by sailors.
  • Wizard Grizard - Wizard Grizard is a magic game played by student of the Academy of magic.
  • Three-Dragon Ante - a card game.
  • Chess - the typical chess game.
  • Dragonchess - A three dimensional chess game.
 

Sports

People of Toriel enjoy a variety of sports, including magical ones.  
  • Golaroxy - A sportball game using magic and purpose crafted golems.
  • Rafinuka - Rafinuka is a sport focusing on the use of magic and concentration.
 

Entertainment

Upper class Thedosians are the most likely patrons of the performing arts, but street shows open to the general public also occur.  
  • Dances - At high society occasions like balls, dances are a must. Dances mentioned include the waltz, the tourdion, the galliard, the allemande, and the courante.
  • Opera - Opera is popular among nobles.
  • Puppetry - While the primary purpose of puppet shows is to entertain, many street shows comment on political issues.
 

Theater

Coliseum and theaters can be found in major cities, such as Holypertuis' Crimson Colosseum, illusion created through magic are shown in addition to the actors performance.  

Notable plays

  • Death in the Mansion, by Violette Armand – The first play to use "False Face", or characters changing masks during the story. Though highly controversial at the time, it has become unremarkable in recent history.
  • The Sword of Tana: an Examination of the Life and History of the Charle II Tana – The first play to portray Charle II as a man beset by doubts.
  • Wilkshire Downs, by A. Pourri – An enduringly popular play about heavily stereotyped Gnomes in which flatulence plays a major role.
