Personal history
As a Si'ylblood, Mariketh would never know peace. His parents were driven from their home after his birth, shunned for the power their blood held. His father was killed by bandits and his mother worked herself to the bone to support them both. As a child, Mariketh roamed the streets of his adopted home of Ars Magne, getting into street fights and stealing. Always enough ahead of the law to avoid anything worse than a beating, he lived rough and hard until his mother died.
At sixteen, Mariketh left Ars Magne to join the Bloodfang warband. He rose through the ranks quickly thanks to his bloodlust and skill, but he was offputting even to the other warriors with his insane fervor. After fighting a dozen blood duels and rising to the rank of Spearleader, Mariketh was made a Longfang in an attempt to get him killed. Even when all those who fought beside him fell, the winged Si'ylblood returned to camp, alive no matter how bloodied he was.
Before things could escalate further, the Lost Sons took Mariketh. As Si'ylblood, they understood the pain of knowing there was nowhere they could truly belong. They took in the angry man and showed him what they knew of the world, of where they had come from, and they gave him a home.
Mariketh appears in a dozen stories, fighting with and against Ascended, to open or destroy lost Si'yl relics. He is perhaps the most famous living person in the world, though most of the stories are pure fiction. His motives and those of the Lost Sons are as enigmatic as ever, but the stories whisper that he has risen to sit in their highest council, despite his rough beginnings. Whatever the case, Mariketh has grown into a quieter, wiser man, but he still fights to build a place that will accept his people.
