Personal history

Born in the caravan like many elves, Estri was precocious with her affinity for the land. None were very surprised when the voices of the plants and animals came to her, and she was trained in the druidic arts before her family moved to Ars Silica.
Her Ascension was less expected. In a time of constant strife between the Toothgnash warband and the dwarven aristocrats of Silica, the elves of Elfwatch were caught in the middle. Estri tried to lead her people down a middle path, but in time the warband attacked and all hands were needed to fight them back. Estri found something deep in herself in that fight, staying on the walls with arrows flying for thirty hours, killing hundreds of renowned warriors herself. When the battle was over, the Toothgnash warleader was dead and the warband limped away from Silica's walls. 
Paranoia overcame Estri towards the end of her life. She build the Watch so she could never be taken unaware by the enemy and spent long hours watching the horizon for any sign of danger. Finally, it was the danger she could see that slew her, when tensions exploded during negotiations with the Torchfire warband. The skirmish left fifty elves, including Estri, dead.
