Basic Information

Anatomy

Trolls are typically taller than the average Human, but the natural curvature of their spines mean that they slouch over when relaxed, making them appear shorter than they truly are. This greater height gives them room for a larger set of lungs and their five chambered heart. They are, on average, more slender and lithe than Humans, but typically have greater muscle mass.
Their two long arms end in large hands, each with three long fingers and one opposable thumb. Similarly, their feet only have four toes.
Every Troll has a pair of tusks. The shape and position of the tusks vary, but the area of the tusks which make contact with teeth always have sharp grooves, causing this section to be shaped like teeth. This helps them to consume food without their tusks being a hindrance. The lateral incisors of every Troll are longer and sharper than in Humans, making them function like canines.
However, the shape and positioning of the tusks depend on which region the Troll is descended from, likewise, skin colour varies with regional descent as well. Perception and Sensory Capabilities

All Trolls have the ability to see in the dark. However, sight is not always the best sense for a Troll, since some Troll's tusks can grow to a certain length or position that may hinder their sight. To compensate for this, Trolls have a greater sense of both smell and hearing.
Like the other Races of Existence, Trolls have a certain level of innate magic within them. Not all Trolls have the ability to access or control this magic, however. Those who have full control over their magic are typically Shamans or Warlocks, but Druids are also common amongst Trolls. Those with limited control are known as Sparks.

Naming Traditions

Trolls of African, Mexican or South American descent typically do not have gendered names. Those of Australian descent do have names which are more popular with certain genders, but there are no firm rules.

Tusk Types

Serrated: These tusks have a row of tiny, sharp grooves along both the top and bottom of their tusks, similar to a knife. These tusks tend to be narrower than the other types.
Thorned: Also called 'antusks', thorned tusks have small branches on, similar to the thorns on rose plants or antlers of deer.
Smooth: Similar to elephant tusks, smooth Troll tusks are essentially no different from a normal tooth, except much longer.

Tusk Position

Cheekbone: The tusks protrude from the cheekbone, not emerging from the mouth, but rather straight from the cheeks.
Top canimolar: The tusks grow from the Troll's top jaw, in place of the canines and two premolars.
Bottom canimolar: These tusks grow from the Troll's bottom jaw, in place of the canines, two premolars and first molars.
