The Arcane Tower
A huge black spire stretching far into the sky, almost seeming to block out the light, the Arcane Tower is the site of much intrigue and magical happenings.
Purpose / Function
The Arcane Tower is the headquarters of a magical research society. It is used for both the admin side of the organisation, as well as being another research base.
The Nether portal on the roof gives easy access to the unusual Netherworld for the organisation, allowing them to expand their research and progress far quicker than they did before the Arcane Tower was in use as the headquarters.
Architecture
The outside of the Tower is made from large slabs of black Netherbrick. It has a flat roof with raised turrets along the edge.
History
The Arcane Tower was built specifically to research a particularly thin section between the walls of the Realms, making it an ideal spot for quick and easy portals between Realms. When a Mage managed to open a new, stable portal to the Netherworld, the Arcane Tower quickly became the new headquarters for the UK's Arcane Research Society (ARS).
Tourism
The Nether Tower is a landmark of the UK, listed up with Stonehenge as a must-see. Unlike Stonehenge, however, the Tower is fenced off from the public. Tourists can, therefore, only see the Tower from a distance if they do not book a slot on one of the weekend tours which the ARS will often run.
The Tower is popular with both magic users and non-magic users, not only because of its imposing figure and the mystical nature of the ARS's research, but because it is said that the Tower possesses enough ambient magic in the air that everyone can feel it, as though sensing static in the air before a storm.
