Hero of Dreams Maria Luna Gloaming (a.k.a. The Sorceress)
Maria is a young moth woman from The Land Where The Sun Never Rises. When she was five, her home was destroyed by dragonbloods, and any property owned by the people originally living there was stolen, ransacked, or otherwise wrecked. As a result of this, she was forced to move to the Dusklands. She became a servant at the Twilight Estate, but she joined her mother in the bakery just a year and a half after.
When she turned ten, Maria was seen as mature and knowledgeable enough to begin working alone in the bakery. Her mother was reassigned, and Maria continued working alone in the bakery for four years until Toto arrived at the estate.
When Toto arrived at the Twilight Estate and began working there, Maria begged the head of the estate to place him in the bakery with her. She and Toto quickly became good friends.
The only reason Maria followed along with Koa's plans once she was wrapped up in his quest was so that she could protect Toto. After all, Toto is and will forever be just a little man. Despite her singular reason for going on the quest, Maria quickly formed her own goals other than just protecting Toto and going home.
While participating in dreamed 'training sessions' with her much-loathed goddess, Selene, Maria made it her goal to, alone, find and confront Selene for letting her home get destroyed. After all, at least in her opinion, a god isn't a god if they can't or simply refuse to protect their people.
While on the quest, Maria found a stick that all but forced her to take it with her. This stick was a sprouting sorcerer staff, and it had been created by Selene to awaken Maria's dormant powers. Like most sorcerers, she became protective of her staff to the point where she refuses to let anyone touch it. It makes sense, for while she can use her powers without the staff, she can only regulate her abilities through the stone embedded in the wood. In addition, if her staff is destroyed, she will die.
In the end, just as Koa did, Maria sealed herself inside Toto's mind to allow him to keep his sanity and allow the world centuries of respite from any invading dragonblood hordes.
