Personal history

Vignere Rothgar was born in 1479 in a small town in the Versnir Republic to a family of farmers under the direction of a far-reaching agricultural organization. He worked with his parents as young as four years old, and would often question why the food his family grew would always be taken away.   In his adolescence, Vignere would spend his limited free time researching different ways to improve the crop gain on his family’s farm. Despite the additional crops provided, Vignere’s family never reaped any additional benefit or thanks. This infuriated Vignere, but he kept his frustration to himself and began slowly saving his meager earnings and taking up additional work in the major cities on his off day. It took Vignere nearly a decade, but he was able to save up enough money to purchase his own land, where he established Rothgar Farms. Vignere took his family to this new farm, where they saw significant success. Their former employers — jealous of the success — began to threaten the buyers from Rothgar Farms, eventually limiting the options Vignere and his family had to sell their goods. Not one for conflict, Vignere cut a deal with his former employer and sold the farmland to him at half the cost he purchased it.   With a sizeable purse still at his disposal, Vignere suggested to his family that they move south to the Merchant’s Confederacy in order to secure new land. His family refused, stating that they felt safer and more secure in the Versnir Republic, despite their meager earnings. While this pained Vignere, it did not limit his ambitions. He bid his family a tough farewell, and traveled south to the Merchant’s Confederacy where he constructed a small home and large farm in the southeast.   Finding capable help was anything but a struggle for Vignere. By offering to assist in building new homes south of the farm, as well as promising that a portion of the crops would always be returned to the workers, numerous people flocked to Vignere Farms and built the Common Grounds south of the farm, creating not only a workforce, but a community. Vignere met his wife, Arelia, during the search for help, and the two married within a year.   Arelia gave birth to three children: Marissa, Pierre, and Melvin. She passed away in childbirth when the youngest, Melvin, was born. While he mourned his wife, Vignere vowed to create an estate that would carry a long-lasting legacy so that his children and their eventual offspring would have a comfortable life. He spent most of his time with his children in their early years, ensuring that each of them could manage a section of the farm.   In 1515, Vignere went to a trade auction where slaves were being auctioned off. Vignere wished to bring someone into his community and away from the other business owners that were known to abuse those they purchased. While there, he auctioned for and won the rights to a young Half-Orc, named Asugul Hammerend. As years passed, Vignere would raise Asugul as a son, training him not only in his work duties, but how to fight. He would go on to take Asugul throughout the Merchant’s Confederacy as a gladiator, giving him the title “The Stone,” which Asugul would go on to exclusively use as his name.   In the events leading up to the the summoning of Balanor, Vignere’s buyers suddenly cut off their purchases from Vignere Farms, prompting him to send The Stone to investigate. The Half-Orc was able to successfully complete his mission, happily reporting back to Vignere several weeks after, as he returned with the Agrammon International Investigation Agency.   Days after The Stone’s return, Vignere Farms was attacked by a force belonging to Ezreal Iantris, supported by the demon, Fierna. Vignere died defending his manor, and was eventually laid to rest in the Common Grounds of Vignere Farms.
