Balanor
Balanor was a demon born from the soul of Balathanos, a fire elemental who was extensively tortured by Fierna, a ruler of one of the Abyss’ Layers. Balanor attempted three separate invasions of Tilorum before he was ultimately defeated by the Rowdy Boys in Agrammon in 1521.

Personal history
Balathanos, The Fire Elemental
At the creation of the Fire Plane, many Fire Elementals were brought into existence by the Three Creators. Of these Fire Elementals, Balathanos stood as the strongest. His strength existed to fulfill his role as General of the Fire Elemental Army. Across the four Elemental Planes, there were none as strong as Balathanos, who took great pride in his ability to defend his plane and the honor of his lord, Infernus. Balathanos learned of the generals of the Abyss’ Seven Layers plotting to invade of the elemental planes to secure a realm adjacent the Mortal Plane. To protect his plane and his lord, Balathanos devoted himself fully to becoming stronger and training his army to be prepared for anything. While it was true that the Fire Plane hosted the largest and most powerful army, Balathanos’ army’s intelligence network was its weakest component. On one evening, infighting took place between the Fire Elementals, as many had been compromised or seduced by Fierna, ruler of one of the Abyss’ Planes. While Balathanos struggled to organize his forces to halt the advance of the traitors, Fierna opened a portal to the Fire Planes which her forces used to invade and slaughter Balathanos’ kin. Knowing he would not be able to gain the upper hand with his forces in disarray, Balathanos opened up a portal to the Mortal Plane of Tilorum, where he directed his loyal troops, citizens, and Infernus himself. Once in Tilorum, the Fire Elementals came face to face with the Five Great Dragons. As invaders to Tilorum, the Fire Elementals were treated with no mercy. Balathanos attempted to negotiate with the Great Dragons to allow the Fire Elementals to stay in Tilorum, but the Black Dragon — the most vocal of the five — vehemently refused. With nowhere to stay in Tilorum, Balathanos took the Fire Elementals back through the portal to the Fire Plane where he mustered his army for one final battle with Fierna. This battle resulted in the loss of all Fire Elementals still loyal to Fire Plane, with the exception of Infernus and Balathanos.Balanor
Infernus and Balathanos were both captured and tortured relentlessly by Fierna. Over hundreds of years, Balathanos’ body collapsed and all that remained was the tortured soul of the one great Fire Elemental. Bent on revenge, Balathanos took up a new identity as the demon, Balanor, and began planning his revenge against Fierna. Without a corporeal form, Balanor knew his soul would need a new vessel to begin raising an army to invade a Layer of the Abyss. Balanor began whispering to the recently-created Dwarves of Tilorum and gained the influence over a leader of this race. Balanor used this Dwarf as a vessel and began raising an army of Dwarves to attack Fierna. With new allies within the Abyss’ Layers, Balanor created an army of Dwarves and Demons that assembled deep underground. The Black Dragon — creator of the Dwarves — caught wind of the exploitation of his creation and rushed to Balanor’s fortress, leading an army of Dragonborn to destroy the fortress and put an end to Balanor’s influence. Balanor fought viciously with his army of Dwarves, but was eventually defeated. His soul departed the Dwarf’s body before his vessel could be destroyed, and he return to the Abyss to formulate a new plan. The Invasion of Agrammon
Several centuries passed. Balanor had become impatient and hopeless. With no clear way back to Tilorum or to another plane, he had no hope of restoring the Fire Plane to its original state. In this time of hopelessness, a ray of hope shone through as a Elf by the name of Ezreal Iantris called out to him using a summoning ritual. Ezreal explained that he wanted to use Balanor’s power in Tilorum as he had heard of legends of this demon’s power. Balanor was skeptical of the Elf’s true intentions, but agreed as he had no other options. For the next several months, Ezreal or a cultist within the recently founded Cult of Balanor would summon Balanor and attempt to use a vessel to hold Balanor’s soul. Vessel after vessel failed which resulted in the death of the vessel or trauma that left them catatonic. Balanor began to lose faith in Ezreal’s efforts. It was late into these experiments that Balanor felt a connection to an old suit of armor he conjured during his invasion of Tilorum centuries ago. That connection was a result of a Half Orc named The Stone putting on the gauntlet from this armor, which had a direct connection to the Fire Plane. Balanor used this connection to speak with The Stone and gauge his strength as a potential vessel. At first Balanor would conjure nightmarish images or attempt to take control of the Half Orc’s body; he was impressed by the young man’s resilience and while he never verbally commented, would often find himself pleased by the creature’s strength. As days went on, Balanor became more and more comfortable with The Stone, going as far as to channel his power through the gauntlet to defend him from harm. As their relationship developed, Balanor requested that The Stone become his vessel and assist him in taking control of Tilorum. When The Stone refused, Balanor returned to contacting Ezreal and finally used a vessel in the form of Emilia Lumere to invade Tilorum through Agrammmon. While this vessel was powerful, Balanor never expected that Inquisitor Titania Lumere would channel his soul from that vessel into her own body. With this amazing power at his disposal, he fought against his old friend, The Stone, as well as the Half Orc’s comrades in the Rowdy Boys. The battle seemed to be moving in Balanor’s favor, until Infernus, Lord of the Fire Plane granted his strength to The Stone, empowering the magical armor and bestowing the Fire Elemental’s strength to the Half Orc. Now fighting against his ideal vessel and his former lord, Balanor stood no chance. His vessel, Titania, was killed; and his soul faded from existence.
