Tlallakah

Geography

Tlallakah is a small Continent located near the equator of Tier'akan on the western hemisphere, famous for it's unnatural prevalence of elemental energies which have seeped into the land itself, making possible the most inconcievable geographies. In places, the air infusion has caused massive islands of stone to rise from the ground, floating in the air- in others, the water permeates the soil, resulting in lands where earth flows like water, and burrowers race through it like birds on the wing. While the native people have adapted to the peculiarities of their homeland, foreign visitors would to well to take their advice as gospel. Disturbing an outcropping of frozen flame will ignite a memorable, if short, lightshow.   Fortunately, the outer edges of the continent tend towards lower concentrations of this energy- as such, the port cities are still easily traversable by travelers. The further in you travel, however, the more intense the effects. Some say at the center of the continent is the source of this effect, but none who dare the journey have returned successful.

Ecosystem

The ecological variety of Tlallakah is incredible, enough to sate an entire university's worth of biologists for the rest of their lives. Due to the infusion of primordial energies, common lifeforms find themselves and their descendants adapting to their surroundings in new and bizarre ways. Magical abilities common- flamespitting grazers consuming vast swathes of plantlife to fuel their internal furnace, or hydrophilic insects forming nets of woven water to trap their prey. More often, however, creatures evolve into something entirely unrecognizable; such as the poor fool who brought horses to the continent, resulting in the Osmovoric Mistracers who still haunt their pastures, draining the liquid from unlucky passerbys.

Ecosystem Cycles

The Cycles of life in Tlallakah revolves not around the passing of the seasons, but of the fluctuations in primordial energies. The four seasons revolve around Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind, and as each element waxes, creatures of it's opposite become sluggish, and if their environment is not strongly suited to that element, become sluggish and hibernate.   This effect is most evident in the outer reaches of the continent, as particularly strongly aligned areas seem to resist the shift- creatures which would otherwise slumber through their opposite take energy from their surroundings, keeping up the processes of their bewildering lives.

Localized Phenomena

Storms:

A wide variety of elemental storms can pass across Tlallakah, each with different effect. Skilled weather mages can warn settlements of these rare occurrences in time to prepare, but gods help any caught outside in their effects.

Twisting Air

Air infused Windstorms  can pass through an area with an almost tangible force; near visible currents whipping back and forth across the sky, before dropping to the earth to sweep up anything not firmly anchored. Any objects caught in a current that weigh less than 100 lbs. are lifted between 5 and 50 ft. from the ground before being dropped. Creatures can avoid this fate with a DC 14 Perception check to spot the current, and a DC 12 Dexterity, repeated one to three times before the storm races on.

Plunging Waters

Water infused do what storms do best- rain. This rain, however, is empowered by the elemental energies to better hold together, resulting in basketball sized droplets plummeting from the sky hard enough to disrupt concentration, disrupt footing, and deal damage to the unwary. Creatures caught in the storm must succeed on a DC 14 Constitution check each round, or be pushed 5ft. in a random direction and loose concentration. Failure by 5 or more results in 1d4 bludgeoning damage.

Swirling Embers

Fire infused storms have a simple but devestating effect. As embers fall from the sky, any exposed object not sufficiently soaked or fire resistant will catch fire after two rounds of exposure, regardless of if it is held. Any creature caught in the open must succeed on a DC 10 Constitution check or take 1d10 fire damage.

Unyielding Fog

Earth infused storms produce unusual, low hanging clouds that sweep like fog across the ground. Though these clouds appear light and fluffy, they act as if solid when touched, and can be climbed across and traversed. However, if a creature should be caught beneath a cloud, they must make a DC 12 Strength check each round to force themselves through the viscous cloud.
