Frostdunes Steppe

The Frostdunes Steppe is an endless expanse of rolling hills of ice and blowing snow, a frozen desert. Stealthy predators and roaring Snow Devils stalk the icy dunes. Even in a place as desolate, there is opportunity and adventure for those brave and stout enough to seek them out and claim them.

Geography

Arnmeuse Chasm

The Arnmeuse Chasm is a well-known quarry where ice crystals can be prospected for. The journey to and from the chasm is a dangerous proposition, but a profitable one if it can be done.

Kogabkin Village

A small fishing village that works the two largest lakes and primary river of the steppe. The villagers are not part of any of the clans, but instead are a odd band of outcasts who prefer to take their chances in the extreme cold than deal with the rest of civilization. Most are skilled tradesfolk, who are more than capable. Feeding and outfitting mining expeditions heading up to the Chasm makes up the majoirty Kogabkin's surprisingly robust economy.

Ecosystem

On the surface there are a few large predators that hunt the steppe. Beneath the hardpack and underground, there is a thriving arctic ecosystem.

Climate

The Frostdunes are a tundra locked into a perminant winter.

Fauna & Flora

Frostdunes Chimera

These strange and deadly creatures stalk the steppe in search of fresh meat. The clans regard a sighting of a chimera, or "nautmein," and destroy them on sight when encountered. They are most active during snow storms when they can move around out in the open without beings seen.

Frostdunes Eel

Believed to have originally been fresh water eels, these beasts adapted to become arctic amphibious. They hide in snow banks, and hunt by sensing the heat of passersby. Though not very large, Frostdunes Eels are wicked fast and deadly if they can drag you back into the snow with them.

Frostdunes Stalker

A particularly sinister breed of winter fae. Believed to have once been elves, these creatures' have been twisted into nightmares. It is said that their ancestors made a pact with the Winter Queen herself in a desperate attempt to save a dying tribe from the worst winter in memory. A bargain was struck for immortality and immunity from winter, but the price were their pure elven souls. Now, these wraiths stalk the steppe on every full moon, seeking revenge for their fate on any living creature they can find.
