The Paradosian Vein

For we worship the vein, there must always be faith, and much as our souls form in our lives, they join us in the land in our death. Why would we not worship the magnificent cycle that the Veins are a symbol for?
  • A Land-Worshipper comments on the symbolism of the Veins in Paradosia, rather than the more common commentary of their economic and practical worth.
The Veins of Paradosia are the primary waterway in the center nation of Thysia, connecting major towns throughout and often being used by Cabin-Boats for travel, holidaying and trading wares across the nation.    A well-kept natural space throughout Paradosia, special interest is placed on the Vein, due to it's symbology... as it was believed to have once been the veins that pumped blood to the heart of the Material Deity before his body was sundered and became the land known as Thysia.    To assist in this belief, the Veins of Paradosia often take on purple and scarlet hues when the sun rises and sets respectively on the waters, offering the idea that the river was hiding unnatural magic and still contained the essence and blood of the Material Deity.    As a result, when the Veins are not being used for travel and trade throughout Paradosia, they are instead seen as a religious icon and source of many festivals and celebrations.

Geography

The Veins run throughout Paradosia, travelling across it's plains, fields and mountains and connecting the nations towns to eachother and making river travel a common method of movement in Paradosia.   As a result, the Veins represent the primary route to the ocean and, crucially, the other nations in Thysia for trade and often conflict.

Ecosystem

The Veins are a bountiful source of life in Paradosia and have large and prosperous marine species throughout, often credited with it's unnatural life energy that fills the water throughout the land.    Most creatures in the water are benign, with some even possessing an unnatural sentience and magical energy, offering guidance; or danger, to those travel the water.

The whole magical-boosted creature thingy makes it a bit creepy to visit. O,O Also a good place for some good ol' mad science.

Thank you very much, I really liked the image of a colour changing river stretching across a nation that mutated and shifted native species... also yes, the alchemist artificers are absolutely FASCINATED by this lake

Ineteresting to have creature with magic living in it. I am a bit confused if the river is used for trade travel or not because the religious sentence seems to contradict that?

Thank you! They kind of fill both roles as traditional religion (the deities and domains in D&D 5e) is banned here due to the worlds history and myth. As a result, many individuals worship the 'magic' of the world around them in festivals and events, so the Paradosian Vein is worshipped in the form of festivals across the year but when it is not being celebrated it is seen as a convenient and magical trade route.
