Manitor Mountains
The Manitor Mountains are an area of rugged badlands located just west of the frontier of Cobal's Manito River and the Barony of Dunrick in western Imesse. Comprised of high, steep hills and buttes with many deep and winding valleys, it is a rough and challenging terrain to anyone trying to navigate through it. There are no settlements or towns of any size or significance within the area, nor are there any defined roads or passes.
The valleys and plains to the east of the Manitor range are considered the Manitor Pass, as it is the obvious route around an otherwise very problematic landscape for caravan, herd or even foot travel.
Known to shelter several bands of Orcs
Geography
Rough and broken badlands with steep valleys and sheer, rocky cliffs. Thick alder and scrub oak growths make the few passably level areas extremely difficult to traverse.
Climate
Temperate seasons with hot, humid summers and cold, snowy winters. Winds can be extreme all year long due to the vast open stretches to the north and west.
Fauna & Flora
Thick growths of alder, birch and scrub oak in valley bottoms and flat areas, with higher elevations having coarse prairie grasses and heather. Trees found at higher elevations tend to be densely packed pine groves.
Fauna includes deer, elk, bison, auroch, wild sheep and goats, giant beaver and other fur-bearers. Predators include bear, lions, wyvern, wolves, and occasionally Giants and Dragons.
