Gallows Square

Gallows Square is an old and quite run-down section of the City of Arksloth that constitutes about one-half square mile of the eastern side of the city. Within this neighborhood is a large walled courtyard with several wrought iron gates that define the centuries-old site of public executions.

The area within the walled court is empty of anything other than a 35' repurposed derrick equipped with a hangman's noose over a raised wooden platform. In the case of this particular gallows, the condemned is placed under the derrick and the noose is placed over his head and cinched, and at the executioner's word the condemned is raised by the neck to a height of 25' and allowed to hang until he is dead.
