Crownfield Lists

The Crownfield Lists are a large area of dedicated land adequately sized and improved to hold large tournament events so that the most amount of people can watch the competitions in safety and comfort. There are several fields that are dedicated to the jousting events, with listed (divided by short fences) lanes where large, armored horses and riders can charge each other at great speed. There are large fields that are intentionally shaped in huge squares where dozens of heavily armed and armored men can hold actual battles with mildly blunted or wrapped weapons. There are long, narrow fields with targets at one end for the archery, spear throwing, knife throwing, axe throwing, et al.

All of these areas of competition are surrounded by covered stands of benches and boxes where the general public can sit and watch these events protected from the sun and rain and out of harm's way. In addition, there are large indoor latrines where the general public can go to relieve themselves in comfort. There are several areas where wagons and tents can be erected that allow vendors and merchants to sell food, drink and wares to the attending public, as well.

Events are the Crownfields are typically free to attend, and the costs associated with the use of the properties are offset by fees paid by vendors, patrons of the tournaments, city officials, and the Bimmin family itself.

Purpose / Function

The Crownfield Lists are a large area specifically intended and purposely designed to hold large tournaments and accommodate the many spectators such events inevitably draw in.

Design

The Crownfields consist of a series of large fields and meadows that the House of Bimmin have purchased and repurposed expressly for the holding of large tournaments. There are dedicated areas for jousts, melees, contests of archery, horse racing, hand-to-hand combat, wrestling and even foot races and jumping contests. Each area has an appropriately sized seating area for spectators, with the more popular events having the larger and more elaborate seating areas. There are also dedicated areas for the selling, serving and consuming of food and drink, and dedicated and effective latrines for the public to use safely and discreetly.
