City of Glenhome

Glenhome is the capital of the Kingdom of Uliad and the largest city on Thallmar Island.  It has a very strategic location at the mouth of the Glen Owys (Glen River) where the river and a number of small islands create a sheltered deep-water sound that is ideal for shipping and ship building.  The city has a population of more than 40,000 souls, most of which are Human and nearly all of which draw their livelyhood and wealth from the sea.

Demographics

Mostly Human, with several communities of Halflings living in close, busy neighborhoods and numbering about 9,000 souls.  Nearly every Human in the city is a member of the Uliadii tribe with centuries of family history in the area, and everyone else is historically, politically and economicly tied to the Uliadii in some manner.

Government

Ruled by the Uliadii tribe and the city is the seat of the Kingdom's government.

Industry & Trade

Glenhome is a seaport, first and foremost.  Trade from the sea is the primary industry of the city.  The large and deep harbor allows dozens of large cargo vessels to load and unload from dawn until dusk, and the many warehouses and silos of the waterfront are always full of grain, produce, products, and resources both coming from the island's interior regions and going out into the wider world.

Infrastructure

An old but well-built city with fine walls, a deep and defensible harbor, stong gates and paved roads.  Four large wells have been dug in the heart of the city that not only provide clean, fresh water to the residents but also feed the many fountains and baths located throughout the neighborhoods and districts of Glenhome.

Guilds and Factions

The largest political faction is the Uliadii tribe that hold the majority of political and military power in the Kingdom, followed closely by the Omallii and Danae tribes.  The Halfling communities (constituting roughly 20% of the city's population) are made up almost entirely of close-knit families that make up the Ahnnii tribe of the Kingdom's population.
