Calas River

The Calas River flows out of the great Graywater Lake and makes its way east and south for more than 220 miles to the Eastern Sea. It is a major highway for trade and travel and is the source of incredible riches and resources for more than one-third of the High Kingdom of Imesse.

The Calas follows a more narrow channel from the Graywater to the neck at the city of Roston, but from the City of Rickmo the Calas widens and slows its pace, making it ideal for river barges and small hulks to traverse.

Geography

The Calas is the second great river of the High Kingdom of Imesse, dividing the northern half of the country neatly down the middle. It is a major artery of trade and travel in the Kingdom. Its long and winding course through the countryside means it is surrounded by a wide variety of topography and geology.

There are two large bridges that cross the Calas, the first at Beldar and the other at Roston. All other crossings downstream of Roston are by ferry. The major tributaries of the Calas flow from the north and are the Reldloth River and the Hekloth River, both controlled primarily by the Duchy of Hekmo. The Calas is navigable all the way from Graywater Lake to the Eastern Sea, with only a series of canals cut at the entrance to the Graywater deviating from the river's natural course.
