Black Coast
The Black Coast is the name given to the northern coastline of the continent of Prasinae. The most commonly held territory understood to be the Black Coast is the portion of the continent that extends north beyond the 15 degree latitude, or roughly the northern-most 2,000 miles of Prasinae's coastline. Extremely mountainous and volcanic, this territory is famous for its jet-black sands, strangely shaped rock formations and rivers of molten rock routinely flowing into the sea.
Geography
The area is dominated by vast expanses of barren volcanic plains and vast, seemingly endless black sand beaches, all often shrouded by thick mists or dark clouds of fumes and ash. The further one moves into the interior of the Coast, the higher the land rises above the sea. At one hundred miles inland, the mountains are more than 14,000 feet above the sea and dozens of them are active, fiery volcanoes pouring rivers of molten lava down into the plains. Hundreds of hot, steamy vents spew foul, sulfurous gases into the air that can kill a Human in minutes and keep all forms of wildlife at an absolute minimum.
Climate
Typically, a wet, humid sub-tropical to temperate climate with temperatures and humidity falling sharply as one climbs in elevation. Heavy rains in the spring and summer, with dryer conditions dominating the rest of the year.
Fauna & Flora
The largest intelligent creature inhabiting the Black Coast is the Prasinax Worm, the largest wingless Draconidae known in the entire world. Other Dragons living in the region include Red Dragons, Black Dragons and Ebony Drakes, but these creatures have a far smaller presence than the great Prasinax Worms, which do not tolerate any other Draconidae that they encounter to live.
