Zatikian
An ethnicity of Suons that live in Zatiik, which is an area off the shore of Aiboth. Zatikians usually have the Fire Gene, allowing to live on this very hot continent present on Mauray.
Some may also have the Water Gene. These people can effectively live in the nearby water and roam on the very hot land should they want.
They also desire to take over the continent of Aiboth as well as all the waters around it. It appears as a small continent on the map, but has strategic value because of the resources extractable from the surface.
Zatikians typically have blue skin and red-yellow bioluminescence.
Due to the extreme local heat, plants may grow faster. Due to the heat resistance of these people, they are practically immune to heat based weapons and magic, such as napalm and heat rays. Only very few areas on Mauray have achieved enough heat to harm a fire suon, so sometimes captured zatikians are used as blast smelters. They are almost safe from the incredible heat, though it is simply too hot for any organism to survive. They can wear a form of PPE and remain alive while inside a blast furnace, assuming they can safely breathe. The zatikians have developed various types of heat based weapons after realising that most species are not heat resistant but they are not common because they mostly fight within the equator zone with extreme heat.
The zatikians have always imagined the sun and stars to be very hot objects that release light because of the heat. However, this does not nessessarily mean that they were close to modern models; many theories were made as to explain how such hot and bright objects could exist in the sky and not fall to Mauray's surface, such as the sun being a god, and the stars, its children. To protect them, the children only come out at night but always occupy the same 'homes' in the sky each night.
The continent of Zatik has a large number of runes depicting fire magic - allowing the zatikian suons to cast various fire spells. This is incredibly useful for magicians over the world, as fire spells can be powerful and are learned in relatively few places. However, zatikians are notably lacking in other elements of magic, though they have at times went underground and found other kinds of runes, mostly to t he credit of various explorers. These are well-documented in zatikian society and taught in many magic schools, though most people just chose to learn fire.
