Yhe'dol Fish
A form of food item. This fish-like species is consumed by Van'Dri - and considered a delicacy.
However, this food item is also known to make them high. Few places are willing to sell it, due to the sheer cost of obtaining it, extracting the poison and dealing with people getting high off it.
The poison can, however, be easily extracted. It is mostly within the vein lining of the fish.
It also has a high energy content so Van'Dri can survive off it better than off other foods (assuming they dont get high or poisoned.
The fish itself as a species was engineered by the Purity of the Stars as an experiment. The experiment was not sucessful, but as the Dark Star Pirates obtained samples of the species and deemed it perfect for van'dri consumption, they began to construct fish farms for them. However they grow and reproduce relatively slowly. They constructed machines dedicated to extracting the poision and preparing it. They are often eaten as a fairly large meal as they are large enough to feed one person for one meal. Due to the sheer energy content, they are known to oversaturate most species and lead to 'sugar highs' to burn excess energy. As the fish is a carbon based lifeform, most would be able to digest it but not exotic species like silicon based lifeforms or Suons. The reason for its extreme energy content is that the fish stores fat and sugar in highly dense cells along with the meat. It does this to store a large amount of energy to remain active for longer periods with no food.
