Mur Jarwuk

A sentient species with their homeworld located in the Mura-tullar system, which is itself located in the Aenoris Galaxy.

The Mur Jarwuk are a species of sentient fungus that can manipulate using several large arms. Despite their fungal nature, they can move and have legs and eat by decomposing dead organic matter of virtually any kind in a way similar to many mushrooms. The Mur Jarwuk are also larger than most species, growing to an average height of slightly over 3m. Though they are large, they are physically quite weak for their size and have large bones that can take their weight easily. The smaller nature of their homeworld means that the bones never had to take a massive amount of weight and have evolved bones that are lighter than the average species of this scale.

After obtaining easy space travel, they made contact with the Grand Artanat Empire. The latter of these powers invaded them so that the Mur jarwuk are essentially slaves to the GAE. Some factions such as the Sulethis Republic and HF try to rescue some and give them freedom, and many mur jarwuk do receive this fate. The majority cannot be rescued with the limited scale of these espionage missions that are launched. Many people freed from the GAE in this way can give the HF and their allies useful information, typically about GAE technology or even deployments. These factions would typically have their own populations of mur jarwuk, so the species is intergalactic.

The homeworld is known as Murbaralla. It is a relatively small world where most of the ecosystem is performed through many species of fungus. Non-fungal organisms exist but are less significant. There are few plants, and most of the sunlight is absorbed by large, specialized fungus. Murbaralla is quite humid in normal conditions and has a large amount of water available. As a result it also feels hotter, which can drain morale. The GAE reduced the water content of Murbaralla's atmosphere which has caused great ecosystem damage but the mur jarwuk work slightly harder. This has also caused mur jarwuk deaths as their species has evolved for the high humidity environment, so while this terraforming effort was highly controversial the GAE leaders did it anyway.
