Iraran Harkas
Subspecies of Harkas that hail from the Irarus galaxy. The Irarans are not a part of the HF.
Perhaps the most notable difference is that the Irarans have no bioengineering gland and has lost their ability for bioengineering. There is still a significant space based ecosystem based on the Astromoeba in the star, but no organism has any FTL methods. Instead of bioengineering, they have advanced technologically like most factions, except in space. Due to the massive scale of stellar space, they have a lot of resources to exploit. Although they are nearly a type I civilization just due to sheer scale alone, they are notably not very advanced. They have no form of FTL travel. In fact, computers have only been invented about 4 years ago. In space, the scale of these machines is less relevant but should be armoured against solar flares (they have no planetary magnetosphere to protect them) and stray space junk.
These harkas also have no hivemind ability - instead, the spaceborne subspecies will communicate through bioluminescence fluctuations of a luminescent organ located where the bioengineering gland is on regular harkas. They can vary the colour and intensity of light emitted from this which others can see, sending the message through vacuum. It is also often used by people like dancers or singers to create stunning visuals. They do have many types of subspecies however - including innerworldians and outerworldians as well as planet borne variants.
They have not unified yet and are currently at war. Warfare is typically carried out by large steel starships and battles conducted in visual range. One nation has secretly invented the radar several months ago, so engagement ranges are likely to increase substantially. Infantry with armour piercing, anti starship weapons are often deployed, so other infantry forces to fight infantry are also used. Starships are often equipped with anti infantry secondary weapons.
No faction outside of their home system knows they exist, and the Iraran harkas do not have any method to detect extrasolar life.
