Cyber-Class Corvette

Small but strong corvette of the Karnol Caretakers.

The Cyber - Class Corvette makes heavy use of Integrity Field Generators, making its armour exceptionally strong. Its armour is reinforced with so much plasma that the KC has removed its shield generator, the shield now being essentially embedded in the armour. Although it would probably be destroyed by powerful antimatter blasts, it can resist common weapons such as cannons and energy weapons easily. The corvette, being a small ship, is very fast and can be used in larger numbers but cannot carry extremely powerful armaments. Although they can take such powerful blasts, it would be foolish to deploy them by themselves due to their antimatter weakness and relatively weak firepower. It has a role that is very rare in the Fortrais Galaxy Cluster, to attract fire from enemy weapons that would otherwise destroy similar ships with heavier firepower. The Cyber class very often makes use of evasion and ewar to further this goal as well.

The Cyber class is almost never crewed. Its role means that it receives a lot of fire, which can cripple any ship. Putting a crew on such a ship is too dangerous, so the KC has made it remote controlled. The AI itself pilots them from long distances, but this also means that ewar can disable them.

Its armament consists of several cannons, powerful lasers (which double as CIWS) and large missile pods usually used for long range or anti heavy strikes.

One more esoteric strategy that the KC sometimes uses within asteroid belts is to ram an enemy ship with them. The asteroids can provide cover from enemy fire, and an impact against even a very large ship will cause a huge impulse on both ships, likely enough to cripple or kill most organics. This strategy is less effective against fully mechanical ships (eg. Freelancers), but can still cause damage through the impact itself and resulting shockwave.

The ship also has a Jump Drive. Its Jump Drive has a short range but relativaly small 'probability bubble' that it can end up in after warp. This is important for its role as precise positioninig becomes important. Its short range means that it onlly has a very short range, so it can be very tedious to plot many jumps. This is why the automated system takes over jump route calculations.
