Ascendant of Zatrides
The leader title of the United People of Zatrides, a star nation of the Hyperion Federation.
The Irziell have a republic system, so the people will vote on a new leader when the last leaders term passes or when they step down or similar. Due to the largely increased lifespan of almost all people relative to their natural lifespans, they serve long, 10 year terms at maximum. As with any other star nation leader, the holder of the title must represent the irziell species and their interests in the wider Hyperion Federation, which is a large task. They usually appoint a party of several other members with similar goals in order to improve the efficiency of their work and get more done.
The HF will often escort them, but it is less necessary for the irziell species as they are clear and probably difficult for any assassins to spot. They are still escorted usually when in public spaces however.
They can be of any species, but are almost always irziell. Other species are more likely to become a leader in their own respective star nation where they usually understand the needs and cultures of their own species much better. When non-irziell hold the role however, they are escorted by more HF special forces units.
Before being elected it is tradition for the leader to deliver a speech and then swear an oath in front of the public before becoming leader. Breaking this is a very serious crime with very strict punishment.
