Aether

The Maurayan god of air.
Aether is almost always depicted on a massive floating island. Floating islands, being a relatively common phenomenon on Mauray, have been an enigma for an eternity. According to most of the population, Aether uses his powers to manipulate the nearby air in a way to allow them to float. It is also said that without Aether, the air would not exist and the people would not be able to breathe, which was known to cause death. Landraz worked closely with Aether to make life possible and as comfortable as possible.

Many mortals spend a lot of time searching the skies for Aether's fabled flying island, which is mobile according to some cultures, but none have succeeded. Along with Porlai, they also have control over the weather. It is said that conflicts between Porlai and Aether over the weather can lead to Maurayan Mass Shifts, but there is little evidence for this. There are also several other causes for them mythologically, usually at the hands of other gods or even Aether.

Though Aether is also generally benevolent to mortals, as he helped Landraz create them, and would not kill people unless they started to seriously annoy Aether or try to damage Aether's powers, or for other reasons. They are normally seen/depicted helping mortals in minor ways. They have a calm and collected personality despite the sometimes raging conditions of the air which can be destructive or even deadly.

However, the people of Mauray are not as advanced as that of the HF. The HF can easily test for Aether's existence, and these tests came out negative. However, at high altitude sometimes Aether's voice can be heard. This is actually an AI inhabiting the planet-megastructure, but is interpreted as Aether's voice.
