Ectoplasm

Ectoplasm is a vapor, which is mainly used to snuff candles, open doors, or even as scare tactics. A psychic with this ability is able to see this supernatural substance, and at higher levels begin to interact and manipulate it for their use. At the highest levels, the psychic can craft ectoplasm into a solid form of their choosing (e.g. a third limb).
Supernatural entities can see and use ectoplasm naturally. Beings with less power cannot do much with it, but those of higher powers can progressively use it to take form in the material world at increasing duration, solidity and complexity.
While infrared optics can detect the interaction of ectoplasm with the material world (e.g. a pronounced temperature gradient in the air, water, etc.), it cannot detect the ectoplasm itself.
