Taranth Bourgeois

Pre-Revolution Life

Taranth Bourgeois was born to the wealthiest, and kindest nobles in Afidorei where he was taught and raised to take over the mana factory when his father retired or died. When he was 20, his father took him into the factory to teach him the ins and outs of handling a business. "The main idea you want to uphold as a businessman is the balance between satisfying the workers and gaining profits." A teaching from his father that would stay in Taranth's mind for the next 5 years when his parents both died due to Eldritch Sickness, presumably from spending time around the veil core. When Taranth took over the business the core's instability grew to almost unmanageable levels, killing most workers who went into the core room. Despite the high mortality rates Taranth decided to keep the factory open, ignoring the requests of the workers to shut it down. In his time overseeing the factory Taranth lost his pallor, and kept the veil core at the same instability it was. This constant instability caused multiple strikes, all satisfied or quietly put down. This repeated for decades until one day a young boy snuck into the core room and died instantly. The father of this young boy, Valen Baylet, found his son and took him back home, coming back the next day to start the Workers' Revolution, at the start of the strike Taranth thought it was normal strike going through the normal motions of putting down a strike. The next day when the wood elves from Thalfor marched for the factory, Taranth fled the city and made his way to Cogwell.

Post-Revolution Life

On arrival at Cogwell, Taranth Bourgeois was criticized due to the many years he kept his mana factory in such a terrible condition, eventually getting the blame for the Workers' Revolution. After the fall of The Elven Coalition groups of high elves with nowhere else to go moved into Cogwell, going in with their wealth and building mansions and new businesses. Taranth was influential when he lived in Afidorei and managed to secure a sort of underground association with the remaining High Elves. With the high elves help he created the Brotherhood of Afidorei. It started as a way for him to keep his political pull without being seen by the wider public but when The Grand Coalition formed Taranth used the anger of the wealthy high elves to garner greater loyalty, allowing him to pull large threads from behind the seen. Now, Taranth lives in a hidden fortress underneath Cogwell, using his influences to get what he wants, lots of money.
