Links of Oromir

The Links of Oromir consist of one long chain that have alternating metals that make up each link. Approximately 9' in total length, the chain is traditionally worn wrapped around the neck, the remainder trailing down the back of the neck and wrapping once around the torso and then once around the right hip.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

The Links of Oromir draw their power from the natural energies of the metals that they are made from. Considering the materials (gold, platinum, titanium, bronze, and mithral), each of the metals confer the following benefits with varying intensity:
  1. Gold: while attuned to this item, you may animate the Links once per day to strike out. This effect lasts for 1 minute, requires a bonus action to activate, and deals 1d10 force damage per strike.
  2. Platinum: while attuned to this item, the wearer ignores costs to purchase food and drink.
  3. Titanium: while attuned to this item, the wearer knows and can cast the Blade Ward cantrip.
  4. Bronze: while attuned to this item, the wearer has resistance to damage done by Bronze dragons.
  5. Mithral: while attuned to this item, the wearer gains a +1 bonus to AC.
  6.

History

The Links of Oromir were forged by Momnôwutu Nditis, a Goliath craftsman based in Helonde. When Momnôwutu crafted the links he gave one set to each of his grandchildren and supposedly told them that when two or more sets were close together their power would be magnified. Famously, none of these Links have ever been brought together as twenty of the grandchildren became adventurers and disappeared off into different Planes. The four sets that were confirmed to remain on the Material Plane have now left the hands of Goliaths and are possessed by four competing factions across Thelesia: one belongs to Daavos Blackstroke of the Nosirithi Order at Maham Castle, another is held by Gothmug of Udun, the third possessed by Anastasia Procter, and the final owned by Mar'Guzryk Khasod.
