Mar'Guzryk Khasod

The Venerable Rector

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Mar'Guzryk Khasod was born in Yapmoor to parents in the ruling elite of the city. He spent his childhood exploring the area around his parents' home in the city, meeting many folks and making many a friend. Though he was a friendly and fiercely independent child he was frequently bored at school and developed an unabating habit of truancy. By the time he was 7, his parents had determined that he would not be likely to succeed in normal academic contexts and removed him from school entirely.

Education

After Mar'Guzryk quit attending school, his parents declared that he must find something meaningful to do with his time. Though he was a mere 7 years old at the time, he found many topics to be fascinating. He first spent time learning about nature and became an adept herbalist. He took the skills he learned from this interest and later applied them to potionmaking, after which point he began to sell his wares. Word of this adept brewer spread across the Eastern Reaches and his notoriety grew until his services were called upon by The Citadel.

Employment

Mar'Guzryk was in the employ of the Citadel for nearly a decade as the on-staff herbalist and natural healer. During his time in the Citadel he made a number of very close friends, including Adelphos Erassa. He met Adelphos in the Citadel's rookery as they were both sending messages to their families and struck up a conversation. Adelphos was interested in the arcane arts and had begun his study in earnest, alone. Mar'Guzryk, with no preexisting knowledge of such powers, began assisting Adelphos in his studious endeavours. The two researched the magical arts together for half a decade before deciding that they had taught themselves all they could and that they would need a more permanent instructor to continue enhancing their skills.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Mar'Guzryk traveled to Mestone, First City of the Crystal shortly after concluding that he needed an instructor to improve his magical abilities. While Adelphos needed to continue saving money to afford the components and booking passage, Mar'Guzryk had spent his spare time at the Citadel selling potions and tinctures to common folk and had saved enough money to begin the journey imminently.   When he arrived in Mestone he was immediately greeted by a representative from the Wisterian Colleges of Magicks and Alchemy as the Venerable Rector had sensed his presence from miles away. The next several years of Mar'Guzryk's life were a blur of fantastical arcane achievements and alchemical breakthroughs as Mar'Guzryk raced through the hierarchy of the Wisterian, becoming Master of Transmutation, Master of Abjuration, and Master of Alchemy after a year in Mestone.   After mastering these arcane disciplines, Mar'Guzryk decided that he would rather spend his time instructing other up-and-coming mages. His dedication to the field of Transmutation particularly strong, he began researching ways to improve his Transmuter's Stone without destroying his own life force. Eventually, he forged the Transmuter's Circlet which provided him with the breakthrough necessary to become Transmuter Superior (the head of the Transmutation department at Wisterian).

A Goliath Archlich, Mar'Guzryk Khasod is the Venerable Rector of the Wisterian Colleges of Magick and Alchemy. A good-hearted being, he strikes fear into all that meet him — that is, until they taste his delectable croissants au chocolat.
