Personal history

Orphaned at birth by his mother and never knowing his father, Sylvian spent his early years being raised and working at the local church. At age eight, Sylvian had enough of dealing with the priest's strict rules and ran away. Sylvian quickly found that he was adept at petty theft. Initially he stole only to feed himself, but when he began venturing farther south toward England, he realized his age made him a sympathetic victim. He began faking roadside injuries and stealing from those who picked him up to help him. By age thirteen, he was a reknowned thief though descriptions varied, often crediting his crimes to an adult.   Sylvian's life of small crime came to an abrupt end when he was picked up by a damsel that he greatly underestimated. When the young woman realized he had taken her rings, she lept at him, burying her dagger into his chest. He was rolled onto the side of the road where he waited to die. As he gasped his last breaths, a vision of an angel and a demon appeared before him, but both turned their backs on him.   The next morning, Sylvian woke covered in blood, but having completely healed from the knife wound. Rejected by Heaven and Hell alike, the orphaned teenager spiraled into depression, frequently testing how far he could go without dying with larger and more obvious crimes. Each time, death rejected him.   At nineteen, Syvlian was arrested and sentenced to hang for murder. Afraid that he secret would be found out and he would be tortured until they found a way to kill him, Sylvian escaped, fleeing far from the area.    In 1608, Sylvian boarded a ship bound for the Americas, swearing to never look back at his homeland again. During the voyage, Sylvian befriended many of his fellow travelers. Realizing that these people weren't unlike those he had victimized over the years he vowed to make an honest man of himself.  After learning more of his origins and discovering the number of demons in the Americas, he spent much of his time hunting the vile beasts.
