Scope
The motivation behind building The Zamarrid Adventures
I wanted a mega city filled that felt so vast that secrets existed around every corner and its pieces, somewhere were you can explore the depths of cultures, their clashing and people struggling against themselves and one another.
The goal of the project
I wanted this to be able to be a playable campaign at first, but I'd like to write a novel too. So I'm going to shoot for the stars and do both. Like separate campaigns or timelines, any campaign I run will start at the same point in time in the world, and the novel will do the same so I can keep them separate and mentaly check changes in one world completely different from the other.
The Zamarrid Adventures's Unique Selling point
I'm excited about this because, I wanted something bright colorful but still exciting and deep. While things like game of thrones and Warhammer felt like they dominated the scene. Everything being so gritty dark made me miss for the days when we could be heroes and make a difference in the world.
Theme
Genre
High magical fantasy, competing with new technologies. Mostly medieval fantasy with flintlock devices.
Reader Experience
I want my two pillars to be emotional depth and exploring the unknown. Emotional and Mystery.
Reader Tone
Somewhere in the middle. Dark places and people, but good people to balance them. Overall I want the world to seem hopeful, but I do want bad actors, the systems are function as intended currently but the plots to destroy them are everywhere. The good guys are holding the forts but the forts are under siege.
Recurring Themes
Freedom - What does freedom, the ability to choose your fate, it take effort to earn that freedom. But even when you have it, sometimes it tastes bitter because it means doing unpleasant things. That bitterness will drive people to often give it up.
Love - This mostly in the romantic sense its about caring and how we treat people and when that isn't happening for you, your friends or even strangers how do we mend those bonds or even should we.
Exploration - The city is new and growing at an alarming rate something new can be just around the corner, but at the same time the world outside the city is full of treasure and lost histories.

rags to rooks, valuable pieces on the board. While they won't often be the ones making the changes the discoveries that the make will reshape the city and the world.

Drama
The Imperial empire has gotten jealous of Zammarids wealth, they want to acquire the city into their own. But The Magus who founds the city is so powerful that the Imperial fears him, so they must be cautious and wage a indirect war.

The red mountains to the north are starting to crumble, earthquakes and landslides have become a common occurrence. As the rocks are falling they are inexplicably falling apart creating the red sandstorms all across the deserts that surround Zammarid have agitated the wildlife and many desert explorers have gone missing.
(Exploration)
The Magus placed the control of the The Rings under control of the Ring Order to maintain fair access. But the portals are starting to malfunction and shipments are behind schedule. The Merchant trio is claiming the order is inept and that they should take over their preservation, which if it happens its believed that'd be an end to any open trade in Zammarid.

The Zammarid harbor was built above a ancestral merfolk home, the imperial empire has been soliciting an expansion of the port and shipping lane security for more goods to come through. They are paying sailors and divers to help raid the old merfolk homes to secure their claims.

The city is growing rapidly, new buildings are being erected every day old racial hatreds are being withered away these blending of cultures new arts, music and technologies are surging. There is always work to be found in construction, arts or the newly discovered mechanical inventions.
