Soreithra

The Goddess of Fire

Soreithra is the most powerful of the gods, she is the body of flame, she grants great strength, and brings great destruction. But despite her greatness, there are few who choose to follow her, because wise men choose to pursue more merciful gods. She is life, and death, heat and pain, power, and passion, the one who warms the winter, the one who consumes all.

Pressence

Wherever there is flame there is Soreithra, it is her power, and therefore people are careful with fire. It is not merely a tool to cook food, it is a living piece of the goddess. It is to be respected and carefully tended to, and those who neglect this duty will find themselves burned, their house on fire, and their lives and belongings claimed by the goddess. When a fire grows too hot, or too large, it will summon the goddess. She resents people's misuse of her warmth and she will reign her wrath down on them in retaliation. She will cause the fire will grow far beyond control and burn everything nearby. This inspires people to pray to her before making fire and to make it only when truly needed, either to cook or for heating in the winter, with the exception of smiths.

Influence

In order to melt the copper and tin needed to make bronze, a smith needs to make a fire so hot that if it was much hotter, the goddess would be inclined to take action, this makes smithing one of the most dangerous jobs in the world, and smiths will regularly prey to Soreithra, at whos mercy they lay. Because of this, the only metal that is used regularly is bronze. There are also silver and gold, but they are rare. Harder metals require too much heat to be molten or shaped. However, it has happened on accident on rare occasions, giving rise to steel blades and coins, a most mythical, and rare metal. Due to its rarity and availability only when made by Soreithra, or by her grace, it is seen as a holy metal, and it is by far one of the rarest and most valuable resources in the world.

Artifacts

Her first gift to the world is the ever flame it is a piece of charcoal, that will never cease burning, and never be consumed by flame. It may seem a small and weak gift, but it is symbolic of her presence, and it may light your way in even the darkest of places, and even under water.   Her second gift was the ring of flame, a well-made, chromium steel ring, with a single large flat ruby set into it. It is called the fire ring, it protects the user from the effects of overheating, burning, and most importantly, it allows for the casting of fire, to tap into Soreithra's power, although to a limited degree. Such as the shooting of flames from the hands, this is rather limited tho, and casting such flame actively burns your internal energy supply, and will quickly make you exhausted and hungry.   Then there is Little Sorei, Soray in speaking terms, This is not a being, or even an object, but a blend of the two. This is a sword, a sword with a mind, and will of its own. its shape is not of a regular word, it is a long narrow blade, in the shape of a flickering flame, and coloured the same. However, it is as solid as obsidian, and stronger still. By itself, it doesn't do anything, it requires a dedicated will, and a strong arm, to swing it, and done so correctly, it will cut through almost everything as if it were butter softened by heat. However, this only applies to things that can be melted, though it does not melt them. When coming in contact with non-meltable substances, such as wood, it will instead attempt to set them on fire. However, it should be mentioned, that this blade can be convinced to not melt things, and not settings on fire, by a wielder of enough conviction. If charmed properly, it will listen, and it will obey, even increasing heat where necessary. One thing this blade will never agree to do, is to harm a fellow sword, in any way what so ever. Of course, it won't lessen its hardness or sharpness, so if you choose to harm other swords, it won't hinder you, but it will not assist you either.

Personality

The fire goddess is all she is thought to be. Warm, comforting, but also unpredictable and merciless She is power unequalled, and has the potential to give great gifts and command great prizes. She is feared, and the fearless. A giver and taker of life, the mother of chaos, and the sister of pain.

Divine Relations

In the old times, Soreithra had been great friends and lovers with Deiwos, being two of the founders of this world. They had a fiery relationship, something the goddess of flames poured much of her passion and love into. Something that changed with the emergence of the goddess Luminara, who became a third factor in their long friendship, a good one, as they proved to get along great, although Luminara and Deiwos got along a little too great for Soreithra's taste. This eventually caused their friendship to deteriorate, as Luminara took up more and more of Deiwos' time and attention, which used to be Soreithra's. When the vile temptress, Luminara, seduced Deiwos, Soreithra's man, into producing an offspring with her, Soreithra confronted her about it, a confrontation that would prove to be their last, as it ended with Luminara's death at the hands of Soreithra.
