Goliaths
In the north of Astiria lies the lands of ice and snow, a region that is hostile to most forms of life. Many of the races of the world avoid travelling north, as survival there is challenging at the best of times. These extreme conditions do not seem to bother the peoples that call the Northern Wastes home though. These people are the Goliaths.
Standing between 7 and 8 feet tall, and weighing between 280 and 340 pounds, a Goliath is an imposing sight at the best of times. Their size is bolstered by the sheer muscle that makes up most of their form. Closely resembling large Humans, Goliaths differ from their shorter cousins in a number of ways. Their skin often takes a grey colouration, leading to many theories that Goliaths are simply made out of the mountains they reside near. Their faces tend to be slightly flatter and broad, making them look stern. Many of the male Goliaths have little or no hair upon their heads, although beards can be quite common.
Goliaths tend to have lifespans comparable to Humans, with maturity coming towards the end of their teenage years. Where some Goliaths may reach a hundred years, it is very rare, and many succumb to old age or the elements far before this.
For those that have researched in to the history of The Old Kingdom, there is a tenuous link between some of the ancient scripts and markings and the Goliaths. No solid evidence has presented itself, but it is thought that maybe the Goliaths were a part of this forgotten kingdom, and that the tragedy of its downfall led the Goliaths to turn to a more survivalist lifestyle.

Origins of the Goliaths
Being a tribal, nomadic race by nature, very little records are kept about the Goliaths. Finding Goliaths in the World of Varda
