Humans

Found across all the continents of Varda are Humans. A physically diverse race, Humans have adapted to nearly every climate found, and range from 5 feet to a little over 6 feet tall. With skin tones that can be from nearly black to very pale, and ranging from 125 to 250 pounds in weight, describing a typical Human is not easily done. Their hair ranges from black to blonde, and can be curly or straight, and everything in between. Males typically sport facial hair once they have matured, which can be patchy or thick. Humans typically reach adulthood in their late teens, and seldom reach more than 80 years of age.

Origins of Humankind

Theories arise that Humans are the youngest of the Races that appeared on Varda, but none can say why or how they came about. Fossils have been found that have been categorised as being from a period of millions of years ago, which would place Humans as one of the oldest Races of Varda, but this has not been backed by any substantial evidence.
Unlike other Races, Humans have no one region they claim to originate from. It is likely their societies and cultures have grown and flourished across the globe from mere tribes, and that they have always been somewhere on Varda as other Races and Cultures thrived. Without a detailed written history, it is unclear to pinpoint how Humans came about, be it the will of a celestial deity or by simple evolution.

Finding Humans in the World of Varda

Humans have spread throughout the world of Varda, and have adapted to many different regions. Indeed, they are the most widespread of the sentient races. With such short lifespans compared to other Races, it seems Humans strive for a greater meaning and to leave something behind once they slip the mortal coil. Great nations and empires last centuries, all fuelled by Humanity's desire to endure, and with it cultures and traditions are kept alive. With the thoughts of immortality out of reach, Humans will seek out adventure, invention and glory, all so that their impact and memory can be preserved for all time.
