Jiminy
Demographics
Government
Jiminy is a loosely-regulated boomtown. It has a mayor, who is mostly involved in glad-handing and cutting deals with the different mining companies and negotiating claims. A sheriff is responsible for keeping the peace within the town proper, but the mining outfits - and the mercenary companies they hire as private security - are the real law in the area.

Traditional boomtown stuff: saloons, general stores, flop houses, whore houses
History
Almost 15 years ago, a group of Ublander entrepreneurs searching for untapped business opportunities hit on the idea that if the salt desert on their eastern border could be found to contain any commercially valuable mineral resources, it could be mined extensively without any concerns about property rights, ecological damage, or governmental oversight. Partnering with a dwarven exploratory mining firm, they formulated a pitch for recruiting several other mining concerns, and founded the town of Jiminy together with them.
Tourism
None. People might come here to make it rich, but not just for vacationing or to see the sights. The sights are bad to look at.
Geography
It is in the middle of a vast expanse of salt-covered nothing, in the northwest of the Upper Marodeen Sea. Ubland rises to the west, and the Onatan Plateau lies to the south, but really it's got no geography to speak of. The winds sweeping down from Ubland carry very little moisture, so it is unbelievably dry here.
Natural Resources
Vast, untapped mineral wealth lying beneath a thick crust of salt. A layer of brine, which lays several meters below the salt surface, contains concentrated minerals and magical residues. The sediments directly beneath are full of effluvial runoff from the rivers that used to flow into the sea.
