Quantus the Traitor

Military action

The final battle against Quantus the Traitor.

Entering Quantus' inner sanctum, the Red & Black found themselves surrounded by advanced Necrotechnology and over half a dozen powerful creatures, their bodies inanimate, but awaiting a soul. Contained in strange caskets, the bodies of the Undying floated, unconscious. Two versions of Quantas greeted them: his Arogonian Lich form and the Defiled version of a Grey Render. After buying some time to position themselves, the heroes began the battle.
Quickly determining that his machines were his vulnerability, the party split their attention between defending themselves from the Lich's spells and the Render's deadly claws.
Wren summoned rats, which effectively began gnawing through cables, Beatrix focused her Sol-given powers on the Lich, Zula harried and stunned the villains, and Firion Inspired his companions. After a bloody, pitched battle, where both sides gave their worst, the rats completed their task and severed the connection between the primary Spark generator and the other spark beacons in the room. This caused an immediate overload, which caused the chamber to begin to break apart, dropping the combatants into the dark below.
The ancient, forgotten tomb in the heart of the Floating Citadel contain Quantus' 'final form', a horrid, massive Defile abomination of flesh, with multiple pairs of arms, some with claws, others grasping weapons, draconic heads upon hydra-like necks, all attached to a central, flaoting beholder-like body.
However, now that the Souljacking machinery had been depowered and destroyed, the destruction of the Lich's and Render's body caused Quantus' soul to seek another Defile body to inhabit. This gave Zula the moment she needs to the activate the Assassin's Soulstone... before it could reach and inhabit the Final Form.
The stone not only captured the soul that inhabited the Lich's and Render's body, but also the souls of every defiled creature he was inhabiting on the planet; thousands of copies of his soul were pulled into the energized soulstone.
At last, Quantus was defeated. Contained, if not destroyed.
