The Lute of Forgotten Lore

This instrument is an exquisite example of its kind, and is superior to an ordinary instrument in every way. It is a treasure trove of lore as its magic holds the knowledge of current tales, forgotten stories, and even secret lore that is not widely known. Its wood is said to come from within Feywild and the strings are made of finely woven Mithral. It is decorated with glowing blue and purple runes on the face, and on the back is Elven script which bears its name in gold. It is fashioned with six slots made to hold pieces onyx. Each onyx powers the instrument with a stored spell that can be cast daily. Any creature that attempts to play the instrument without being attuned to it must succeed on a DC 15 Wisdom saving throw or take 2d4 psychic damage.   While playing this musical instrument, you can create harmless and obviously illusory effects within a 30 foot radius. These effects can include images, shapes, colors, sound, movement, and slight changes in temperature. Anyone experiencing these illusions is aware that the illusions are emanating from the Lute. Additionally, you can use an Action to play the instrument and cast one of its Onyx-stored spells. Once the instrument has been used to cast a spell, that spell slot can't be used again until the next dawn. The spells use your spell casting ability and spell save DC. You gain advantage on History and Arcana skill checks while using this instrument.   Notes: Advantage: History, Advantage: Arcana, The Lute is crafted with 6 empty slots, each made to hold a single piece of Onyx. Each piece of Onyx can be enchanted to hold a single spell. Spell-storing rules for Onyx apply, including size, value, and Spell Point capacity. (see: Onyx).
