Roamers

Roamers are an off-shoot of the Aragonian race, made up of families of outcasts that wander the world, making their way via trading (smuggling), mercenary work (thuggery), or other less savory means (prostitution, drug trafficking, extortion, etc). A colorful and loud group, they're barely tolerated in civilized lands, and only then at the outskirts for their colorful personalities, raucous music making, and legendary drinking contests.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

Roamers tend to be multi-lingual, knowing Aragonian, Common, their own unique Thieves Cant-like dialect of Aragonian, and at least some of the local languages of the area they currently find themselves in.

Culture and cultural heritage

To outsiders, their lives appear to be one big carnival, a perception all Roamers are keen to promote, to hide their internal insecurity, weakness, or illicit schemes. The perception of Roamers is that while, yes, they are grifters and vagabonds, they also have goods, information, and mystical answers unavailable through any other means. Need a love potion? The old Roamer soothsayer will let you have it, for a non-monetary price. Need some muscle to protect an illegal card game? If the coin is right, you'll get it, no questions asked. Need to hear (or spread) the latest rumors on the goings-on of the local aristocracy? A Roamer child will clue you in, for a seemingly trivial favor. Need to get an important individual out of the city, undetected? An entire Roamer clan my help you out, just for the fun of it.   Aragonians, for the most part, refuse to even acknowledge the existence of Roamers. Chaotic Aragonians are considered mentally ill and are quickly cast out from mainstream Aragonian society, so the fact that there are enough of them to form their own culture (albeit a fractured and nomadic one), is something most Aragonians simply cannot fathom and will outright ignore.

Common Dress code

Roamers are fond of colorful scarves, vests, loose, flowing clothing, jewelry (the gaudier the better), piercings, and tattoos. Unlike mainstream Aragonians, males may grow their hair out and females may shave their heads. One of the few fashion passions that Roamers and Aragonians share is that of using darksteel as accouterments to their clothing and minor body modifications.
