The Stone Gours
The Stone Gours, a rugged and inhospitable region, lies at the western center of Omas. This vast expanse of jagged terrain serves as the homeland and stronghold of the Dolos Glaukos, the elite mercenary order. The Gours are characterized by their towering rock formations, labyrinthine canyons, and the ever-present shadow of looming mountains. This harsh environment has shaped the Dolos Glaukos into the formidable warriors they are, where survival and mastery over the elements are as crucial as their combat skills.
The Stone Gours stretch over hundreds of miles, a region defined by its unforgiving landscape. The ground is cracked and barren, with patches of coarse grass and hardy shrubs that have adapted to the arid climate. Massive stone spires, some reaching over a hundred feet tall, jut out from the earth, forming a natural labyrinth that is both awe-inspiring and treacherous. These spires, weathered by centuries of wind and rain, are etched with intricate patterns of erosion, giving them the appearance of ancient sentinels standing guard over the land.
The terrain is broken by deep canyons and ravines, carved by millennia of water flow, though now only dry riverbeds remain. These canyons are a maze of narrow paths and steep cliffs, where the unwary traveler can easily become lost or trapped. Hidden among these cliffs are the secretive settlements and training grounds of the Dolos Glaukos, camouflaged against the stone and accessible only to those who know the way.
To the east, the Stone Gours rise into the Stormspire Mountains, a range of peaks that scrape the sky. The mountains are perpetually shrouded in dark clouds, giving them an ominous presence. It is said that the winds here carry the whispers of the Dolos Glaukos' ancestors, guiding the warriors in times of need. The highest peaks are crowned with snow year-round, their icy slopes a stark contrast to the dry, rocky terrain below.
