Training
The lifelong training of a Dolos Glaukos member is a rigorous and disciplined journey, deeply rooted in tradition and the ancient code of the Glaukon Axioma. It begins in childhood and continues throughout the member's life, ensuring they become not just warriors, but living embodiments of the order's ideals.
Early Childhood (Ages 5-10):
Training begins at a very young age. Children of Dolos Glaukos are taught the basics of discipline, physical fitness, and mental resilience. This period focuses on instilling a strong sense of duty, respect for the Glaukon Axioma, and the importance of self-control. They are introduced to basic combat drills, meditation, and the study of the natural world, particularly the sky and its symbols.Youth (Ages 10-15):
As they grow, their training intensifies. Youths are put through grueling physical conditioning, honing their bodies into powerful and agile instruments of war. They are taught various forms of combat, including hand-to-hand fighting, weaponry, and archery. During this time, they are also instructed in strategy, tactics, and the history of the Dolos Glaukos, learning from the successes and failures of their predecessors.Apprenticeship (Ages 15-25):
At this stage, young members are assigned to a seasoned warrior as an apprentice. This mentorship is a crucial part of their development, as they learn directly from those who have walked the path before them. Apprentices undergo advanced combat training, mastering the use of the kyriaklon, longbow, and other weapons. They are taught how to harness the skyweave armor’s abilities and how to maintain and repair their equipment. During this period, apprentices are also trained in the art of stealth, reconnaissance, and survival in harsh conditions. They accompany their mentors on missions, learning how to apply their skills in real-world situations. Mental discipline is further reinforced through rigorous meditation practices, helping them maintain calm under pressure and resist fear or pain. At the culmination of their apprenticeship, each member is tasked with returning and given a chance to read the original Codex Glaukos in its entirety without interruption or discussion. Typically afterwards, the member meditates and can take as much time as they each require to ponder the text, its meanings and most importantly; its responsabilities. Afterwards, they are simply asked the question, "Do you accept?" if the member says, 'No.' they are released from any obligations and are allowed to do whatever they wish as long as they do not spread any information about the Dolos Glaukos or betray the clan. In the extraordinary rare case of betrayal, the offender is run down and killed. All traces of their life are removed; houses burned, contacts outside the clan silenced and evidence of their mere existance destroyed. If they reply, 'Yes.' they become full Dolos Glaukos and officially enter the ranks of the clan with all privileges.Adulthood (Ages 25-40):
Upon completing their apprenticeship, members are considered full-fledged warriors of the Dolos Glaukos. They are now responsible for upholding the order's values and executing its missions. Their training, however, never truly ends. Warriors continue to refine their skills, engage in regular sparring sessions, and participate in challenging exercises designed to push them beyond their limits. In this phase, they also begin to learn the subtler arts of influence and diplomacy, understanding the political landscape of Gallidion and how to use their skills to subtly guide events. Their connection to the Glaukon Axioma deepens, and they may take on apprentices of their own, passing down the knowledge and traditions to the next generation.Elderhood (Ages 40+):
As warriors age, their roles shift from active combatants to teachers and strategists. Elders are highly respected within the Dolos Glaukos, valued for their wisdom and experience. They oversee the training of younger members, offer counsel on missions, and play a key role in the governance of the order. Elders also focus on the spiritual aspect of their training, spending more time in meditation and study of the Glaukon Axioma. They are the keepers of the order’s lore, ensuring that the history, philosophy, and techniques of the Dolos Glaukos are preserved and respected.Legacy:
Throughout their lives, members of the Dolos Glaukos are driven by the pursuit of perfection in both body and mind. Their training is relentless, but it is also balanced by a deep sense of purpose and camaraderie. The order's members are not just warriors; they are scholars, strategists, and guardians of a sacred tradition. Even in death, their legacy continues, inspiring future generations to uphold the fierce blue flame of the Dolos Glaukos.
