The Tyrant gods

A group of deities banished to the nether planes for their cruelty and lust for dominion.

Summary

Acording to legend, during the age of breaking, several entities rose up in power through rituals lost to time to rise above all other beings. Some sought to better the world and the lives of all the nations and free folk, while others sought dominon over the prime material through hellish war and conquest. The greatest of these became The Divine pantheon and the tyrant Gods. Through a cataclysmic war that have simply been named the breaking, the world was rendered asunder through the might of the new Gods and the power of the Dragons. Mountains were leveled and once proud nations wisked away overnight. At the end of the war, the Divine Gods sought and succeeded in banishing the Tyrant Gods to a set of demiplanes, so they could never again unite against the free folk. Thus the nether realms came to be.

Historical Basis

The breaking is by all historians with a modicum of credibility considered fact, with the following age seeing devout followers of the Tyrant gods sometimes blessed with miracles. Several schools of magic are also attributed to select Tyrant Gods, such as the school of illusions being the domain of Tineb – The deceiver .

The legend of the Tyrant Gods is widly held as a universal truth, told to every child in every place of the world as part of upbringing.

Variations & Mutation

The legend varies throughout the cultures of the world, and some places sees open worship of one or several of the Tyrant Gods. Some cultures like the Gilm hold fast that all gods should see worship, and depicts nearly all of them to be in the form of the now beleved to be extinct Dragons. A more comon notion depicts the tyrant gods as hideous monstrosities.
