Dhimian

A people of avrage stature with a propencity for broad sholders and dark hair, who tan easiliy but pale just as quick in winter. They predominantly habitate the northern part of Dimha.

Culture and cultural heritage

The Dhimian holds ancestry to the Dimhurian, the people who inhabited the destroyed kingdom of Dimhur. As Dimhur was laid to waste and monsters moved freely, perhaps less than 2000 survived to repopulate the region some 650 years ago. Living in ruins and canibalizing old buildings to construct small forts against the wilderness, the Dhimians hold no small pride in their continual survial and enventual flurishing. Only really growing into a nation less than 200 years ago, people still mostly identify with their local regions or towns.

Common Dress code

Commoners usually wear clothing in earthern or green tones, and women are expected to wear dresses. Unmaried women wear their hair lose, while married women braid or set it up as a ponytail.

Common Customs, traditions and rituals

The Dhimian commonly practice the 'Kontie' or Contractier, where debt is usually not payed back with coin but with unpayed service for a time fitting the assumed value of the debt. The holder of a Kontie is obligated to provide adequate shelter and food, or the time in indenture should be severely reduced. In the case of criminals it is comon to offer a Kontie or jail, with most everyone choosing the former. The terms of their forced Kontie can be harsher, and the contract can be sold, but the obligation of shelter and food is expected to be upheld.

Birth & Baptismal Rites

Births are if possible warded by the clergy of Elo, and their month of birth is often viewed as an indication of their future.

Coming of Age Rites

Men come of age at 14 and women at 15.

Funerary and Memorial customs

Funeral always involves cremation. To bury someone is to bring misfortune upon ones kin.

Common Taboos

Anyone dealing with Necromancy or Hemomancy will imediatly be branded as honorless and lawless, and killed. Blaming necromancy for the destruction of their ancestral nation, the populus is venomus to the very word Necromacy and undead. That said, it has been so effective that the general populus are begining to disregard it as myths and old crones tales.   The birth of a tiefling is a strong taboo, and are usually left out in the woods expt in the larger cities.

Legends tell of doom comming from the south and swallowing up the ancestral land of Dimhur in shadow death.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Men are valued for broad shoulders and long hair. A shaven face is a clean face. Women with wide hips and slim waists are a steal. A pale complection is seen as attractive. But in moderation.

Gender Ideals

Men are expected to carry the loads, while women the family. There is a general tendency towards equality between genders in social settings, though women are expected to be subservient to men within the home.

Courtship Ideals

Most marriages are arranged at the age of 9, when the general nature and worth of the children are judged. It is custom that once of age,the woman initiate the courtship with an offering of lace. Later the man brings an offering in turn, usually indicating the means of income, like an apprenticeship craft.
