Spires
There are seven spires. On them are settled what remains of nine great nations. These spires were once pieces of a world, but after the shattering they drift in space, joined by the etherium and connected at their bases by the boneyards. They are roughly cone shaped, and they maintain the orientation they had when the Land was whole. People can cross between spires by breaking out of the atmosphere with flying devices and navigating the winds of the etherium, or by delving deep into the boneyards and finding a passage which connects both spires; or in some spaces, where the etherium is near enough, they might leap from the edge of their spire and swim to another, or else launch a vessel like a boat from their spire.
Geography
Think if a globe was split into seven pieces and each slice exploded gently outwards slightly - so now there is space between each cone-shaped slice - and the points of the cones don’t meet.
