Ellswhere

Ellswhere is a prosperous and growing city, the second largest on Wilting Spire. Unlike the cobblestone streets of the city Dim, Elsswhere has asphalt and cobblestone streets which can be laid and repaired more efficiently. They give the city a distinctively modern look, despite the age of the city's buildings. Ellswhere is the home of the first church of resurrectionism, and thus has a large congregation. There is friction between this new church, and the older faith worshiping the young - now dead - gods.   Ellswhere feels the presence of the Belltollers, who own a large brewery in the city, the Bloodletter's Guild who own a guildhall at the city's center, and an Avalonian Gunsmithy. Most prominently however, is the Weldsman's guild which is the largest of the guilds in Ellswhere.

Demographics

Mostly people of Wilting, but some Red-landers or Southlanders.

Government

Ellswhere is under the rule of a mayor, but is increasingly influenced by the resurrectionist church. Though the mayor theoretically has last say in all affairs, the bloodletting guild and the weldsman's guild rarely consult with the mayor in decision-making.

Industry & Trade

Ellswhere is a market town, and a hub for traders and farmers. It is not a place of industry, but of community, and thus the living costs are too high for most, and it is considered a rich man's destination.

Infrastructure

Ellswhere has voltaic lanterns throughout the city, which are a modern convenience, burning longer and giving off more light; and without smoke like their oil-burning counterparts. Still, they must be lit by candle-boys and girls. Ellswhere has two large graveyards: resurrectionist and old faith. There is a large brewery and distillery which provides stout ale to the surrounding towns, and to Ellswhere itself. There is a bloodletter's guild hall, and at least one gunsmith, and one blue surgeon.

Assets

A large river flows past Ellswhere, in proximity which offers easy access to the farmers outside the city.

Guilds and Factions

Weldsmen, bloodletters, belltollers

History

Ellswhere was once a small agrarian town outside of Dim, which mostly grew due to the prosperity of trading with Dim. Now Ellswhere draws in resources from the countryside, and aggregates such goods for sale, for profit.

Architecture

Architecture in Ellswhere is entirely post-shattering.

Geography

Temperate, rolling hillside.

Natural Resources

Excellent farmland, nearby forests and river.
